Old Man Banksia by Wendy Sinclairs Art

ARTIST NOTES: “Old Man Banksia” (framed in black floating frame) The Banksia “flower” is one of my favourite Australian native wildflowers. It is unique and comes in so many colours and varieties. In creating this artwork, I decided to use Acrylic Inks covered with Cling Wrap to produce the texture and abstract shapes. They are so vibrant once they dry. I thought this would be the perfect backdrop to make the Banksia “pop”. I left a little space for the beautiful Acrylic Inks to shine at the top of the board. Completed 25.8.20 Size: 60cm x 60cm Surface: Wood Board Medium: Acrylic Inks, Acrylics and FC Pitt Artist Pens

ARTIST BIO

I began my creative journey in 2013 while caring for my parents. I needed an outlet and art became a daily chance to try new things and express my creative voice.

My love of nature and landscape are conveyed in my art, especially the colours and sights seen travelling & living in Canada, Qld, NT, Vic, and NSW.

I love to paint with acrylics (often with impasto techniques), acrylic inks, soft pastels, colour and pastel pencils, mixed media and occasionally oils. I love bold, vibrant colour and texture, lots of texture!

I am also a keen photographer and love taking photos of places, flowers, trees, animals – anything that is colourful and catches my eye as a possible painting reference photo!
